Graphic and Multimedia Design

Shore10's graphic designers generate the visual presentation and design of goods, including websites, album covers. Their work is usually done on a project basis. Designers work under extreme time constraints and very defined financial and design limits to produce quality material. Our designers have the ability to synthesize feedback from a number of different sources into a distinctive image; use research prepared by a marketing department and cost specifications determined by a budgeting department; and produce a variety of sketches and models that demonstrate different approaches to the product. Shore10 has the ability to listen to comments and has a good eye for aesthetic design, a flair for color, and a solid understanding of the needs of the corporate world. When projects are under way, designers work long hours brainstorming and meet with project managers to discuss ideas.

The first step in developing a new design is to determine the needs of the client, the message the design should portray, and its appeal to customers or users. Our designers consider cognitive, cultural, physical, and social factors in planning and executing designs for the target audience. They gather relevant information by discussing with clients, creative or art directors, and by performing their own research. Identifying the needs of consumers is becoming increasingly important for us as they continue to develop corporate communication strategies in addition to creating designs and layouts.

Designers then prepare sketches or layoutsby hand or with the aid of a computerto illustrate their vision for the design. They select colors, sound, artwork, photography, animation, style of type, and other visual elements for the design. Designers also select the size and arrangement of the different elements on the page or screen. They may create graphs and charts from data for use in publications, and they often consult with copywriters on any text that accompanies the design. Designers then present the completed design to their clients or art or creative director for approval. In printing and publishing firms, graphic designers also may assist the printers by selecting the type of paper and ink for the publication and reviewing the mock-up design for errors before final publication.

Our designers use specialized computer software packages like adobe photoshop, adobe dreamweaver, adobe flash, corel draw, etc. to help them create layouts and design elements and to program animated graphics

Logo Design

Logo design is an important area of graphic design, and one of the most difficult to perfect. The logo (ideogram), is the image embodying an organization. Because logos are meant to represent companies' brands or corporate identities and foster their immediate customer recognition, it is counterproductive to frequently redesign logos.

Color is considered important to brand recognition, but it should not be an integral component to the logo design, which could conflict with its functionality. Some colors are formed/associated with certain emotions that the designer wants to convey. For instance loud primary colors, such as red, are meant to attract the attention of drivers on highways are appropriate for companies that require such attention. In the United States red, white, and blue are often used in logos for companies that want to project patriotic feelings. Green is often associated with the health and hygiene sector, and light blue or silver is often used to reflect diet foods. For other brands, more subdued tones and lower saturation can communicate reliability, quality, relaxation, or other traits.

Shore10's Logo Design Pattern

Shore10's Design Team understands that creating a new logo requires understanding the client's problems and goals from the beginning. Working closely with our clients is not only essential to my business objectives, but without a doubt helps in the process of creating a logo that represents them and their company. After some client feedback we tend to head back to the computer and make changes or provide additional samples. When we're at least 80% satisfied with the logos we have so designed we play around with color combination and font variation. When the client comes to an agreement of the best overall solution for their logo, we will go in and make any additional minor changes we feel are neccessary, if need be. Our software of choice is typically Adobe Illustrator for creating logos.

Flash

Shore10 designers and developers structure applications in a way that is intuitive and beneficial to themselves as well as other people working on the same project. This is particularly important in FLA files with lots of assets. When you follow best practices, everyone on the design and development team can understand the file structure and can work more efficiently. This document helps formalize the Flash development process.

Because it is common for more than one designer or developer to work on a single Flash project, teams benefit when everyone follows a standard set of guidelines for using Flash and organizing FLA files. The sections in this document outline the best practices for organizing and structuring your Flash files, maintaining version control, optimizing for output, and making the best use of behaviors, screens, and video.

The following guidelines encourage consistency for people learning how to use Flash. Adopt best practices at all times, whether you are a designer or developer, or working alone or as part of a team:

When you work on Flash documents:

Adopting consistent and efficient practices helps you speed up your workflow. It is easier to understand and remember how you structured your document when you want to edit it further.

When you share FLA files:

Other people editing the document can quickly find and edit the project's assets.

When you work on applications:

Multiple authors can work on an application with fewer conflicts and greater efficiency. Project or site administrators can manage and structure complex projects or applications with fewer conflicts or redundancies if you follow best practices.

When you are learning or teaching Flash:

Learning how to build applications by using best practices reduces the need to relearn particular methodologies. If students practice consistent and better ways to structure applications, they might learn Flash more quickly and with less frustration.

Consistent techniques and the following guidelines help people learning Flash, or people working effectively in team environments. Consistent methods help you remember how you structured your document when you work by yourself, particularly if you have not worked on the FLA file recently. These are only a few of the reasons to learn and follow best practices. You are bound to discover many more when you read these best practices and develop your own good habits.
